Halloween decor

Current mood: cynical

this year, i definitively hate halloween. imo, the only redeeming attribute to october 31 is that people can finally put away their horrid yard decor!

5 years ago, i would have acquiesced to the social graces of costume dress up. now, well, it's more of a headache.

what is all the fuss about, anyway? my little girls dress up all the time. i have one little girl who likes to wear her dress-up clothes to church on sundays. so what's the hoopla when everyday is dress-up day?

i could understand, i suppose, if you were a boy and actually liked to dress-up and be creative in your costume attire. but, not most guys are thrilled about the prospect of being anything other than scary or sporty, if anything at all.

what i find most deplorable is the celebration of "fear" and "all that's scary". it's not enough for halloween to just be about dressing up and asking strangers for candy--which is very suspect to a conscientious mommy; something very counterintuitive. its not about being agreeable and fun, anymore. now you have to be gruesome?

so this year, am i really gonna allow my kids to traips about the neighborhood for fanfare and treats? well, usually we try and find some harvest festival and take the kids for games and fun; away from most of the scamps, villians & goblins. but, this year i am not feeling up to it. i think i will just sit at home and try and hide from abnoxious, unsightly children knocking on my door. i'm just not up for any halloween ballyhoo, this year.

but to be fair, i think i may just let sam take our son out for his first good old fashion trick-or-treat gala.

gotta go and find a place to hoard the candy that he'll be bringing home.
